My daughter Kenya Sturdivent is a 16-year-old high school student in Tampa, FL. She has long since had the aspiration of a career in medicine. She is a student in a medical program at her school and this summer would like to attend the summer program with The B.E.S.T. Academy. Below I will paste information about this program provided by their website. Kenya and I participate in as many crowd funding campaigns as we can and this will be the first time that we will be running one ourselves, for ourselves. Feel free to tag us in any campaigns you are participating in and we will do our best to contribute what we can. If this campaign is successful we will provide photo's, videos, and written updates about her progress within the program and more updates after it's completion. We thank you all in advance with peace and love.

The B.E.S.T. Academy was founded by Dr. Dexter Frederick, an internist/pediatrician. It is a four-week intensive program, offered in partnership with Florida Hospital-Tampa, The University of South Florida AHEC, and USF Morsani College of Medicine. It is quite a unique experience for high school sophomores, juniors and seniors interested in a medical career.  Students engage in hands-on experiences in healthcare.  Secondly, they participate in shadowing health professionals at Florida Hospital.   Lastly, they study the human body by working with human cadavers.
Students will spend time observing mentors in their day-to-day work environments, which includes a fast-paced clinical and surgery settings. Since provider-patient interactions are considered confidential, each student is required to participate in confidentiality training and sign a confidentiality agreement. For students under 18, a parent’s or guardian’s signature on the confidentiality agreement is required.
The program lasts 4 weeks during the summer. At the end of 4 weeks, a celebratory award ceremony is held in which students are recognized for their class performance and involvement, their oral presentations and testing.
